Memory
With an account, Oyster can remember useful things from your conversations — facts about your environment, preferences, decisions, instructions — and recall them in later answers. Memory belongs to a project and is visible only to you.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Open Settings (the wheel in the sidebar footer):
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Use long-term memory | Recalls your memories in answers. Off means none are used. |
| Automatically save useful memories | Saves facts and preferences from chats without asking. |
| Ask before saving | Holds new memories for your review instead of saving them straight away. |
Manage your memories
Section titled “Manage your memories”Manage memories in Settings opens your memories in three tabs:
- Active — what Oyster currently recalls. Edit or delete any of them.
- Review — memories waiting for your approval, when Ask before saving is on. Approve or reject each.
- Conflicts — memories that contradict each other. Keep the right one.
Export JSON downloads all of them.
What is protected
Section titled “What is protected”- Memory content is encrypted at rest.
- Credentials, card numbers and similar secrets are blocked from being saved as memories, whatever the conversation contained.
- When a memory is updated, the old version is kept on record rather than silently overwritten, and contradictions are shown to you, never resolved behind your back.
Delete
Section titled “Delete”- Delete single memories in Manage memories.
- Delete my memories in Settings erases all of them.
- Deleting your account erases them too. See Data and privacy.
Oyster is made by Red Orca, alongside Dolphin and Shark. One account for all three.
